In 1966, Yale senior Christopher Walker teamed up with some friends at Harvard to launch the first "computer" dating company—Operation Match. For $3, users got the addresses of six matches. There was only one problem: everything had to be typed up on computer punch cards and run through an IBM 1401 computer. Instant service, it wasn’t. Still, when Operation Match appeared on the Valentine’s Day 1967 cover for LOOK magazine, it was the biggest seller in the magazine’s history.
Chris has been thinking of how to do it better ever since. After forty years of self-education on relationships and watching technology develop, he has produced, along with a talented team, what may be the ultimate introduction service: PersonalQuest.
